In 2024, Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy for his dual-threat vitality for the Colorado Buffaloes. At a very high degree, playing both large receiver and linebacker full-time set Hunter apart from other students in the school environment.
The NFL, however, is a more concentrated activity. As such, Hunter didn’t be expected to play both offense and defense full-time at the next stage. Hunter’s involvement in the NFL seems to favor him playing corner rather than large receiver.
For the NFL Scouting Combine, which begins in Indianapolis in two days, Hunter and the cornerbacks are grouped. He may do on-field drills and sport testing with the protective backs, as well as that party’s media sessions.
While Hunter might be able to get involved in deals on offense in the NFL, his calling card–at least initially–will remain on defense.
