The state of Missouri has sued Starbucks, claiming its diversity, equity and inclusion ( DEI ) policies have led to customers paying more and waiting longer for their coffees.
The coffee shop chain allegedly used its commitment to diversity as a justification to practice racial, gender, and sexual orientation discrimination carefully.
In the complaint, filed in St Louis federal judge, Missouri also claimed executive pay was tied to the company achieving culture and gender-based hiring limits.
According to the petition,” Starbucks has decided to separate employees on unlawful bases, mandate outright competition and sex-based bias in hiring via restrictions, and select preferred organizations for additional training and employment benefits.”
As” the most qualified workers” weren’t hired, Coffee ‘ behavior had resulted in users spending more and waiting long for its goods and services, it added.
Starbucks described the allegations as “inaccurate” and added:” We are deeply committed to creating opportunity for every single one of our partners (employees ). All is welcome to our programs and gains, and they are legal.
