
In the near future, a new fiber-optic internet service provider will provide service to Stow, Silver Lake, and Kent.
According to Michele Johnson, new business development manager for Greater Akron, Metronet is anticipated to begin construction immediately and hopes to begin providing internet connections to businesses and residents in Stow, Silver Lake, and Kent this spring.
Metronet is in more than 300 communities in 18 state, including 20 different Ohio areas.
” Metronet is a new choice for consumers. Our upload and download speeds are similar, which is good for streaming, entertainment and work from home”, Johnson said.
Johnson said that Metronet offers a 100 % fiber-optic system.
This privately funded investment may join households and businesses to ultra-high-speed online, offering speeds of up to 5 gigabits per second for citizens and 10 gigabits per second for firms, according to Metronet.
In a press release, Silver Lake Mayor Therese Dunphy stated,” We are excited to have access to another computer choice, increasing competition and enhancing our Village.” Silver Lake and the products that make our neighborhood a great place to learn, function, and live will continue to grow as a result of our collaboration with Metronet.
There are various pricing packages available, said Erica Mastropierro, internet call for Metronet.
” For , domestic customers,  , we offer frequency items ranging from , 150 megabits per second up to 5 gigabits per second”, Mastropierro said. ” For , business customers, speeds are available up to , 10 gigabits per second”.
Prices for residential customers range from$ 34.95 per month to$ 109.95 per month, depending on the data speed selected and length of the contract, according to
Residents of the three communities will be informed by email about the launch date of construction, according to Metronet, 30 days prior to the deadline. Further notifications, such as backyard signs, may also inform residents of future construction. Metronet crew will be able to be identified by identification tags and labelled vehicles.
Metronet plans to hire regional business management positions, selling and customer service professionals and service professionals, according to the company.
Johnson claimed that the company has no current plans for a shop.
Johnson stated that while we do not physically reside in the area, we are investing in the area over the long term by participating in local businesses and participating in the local business community.
